Continuing its pledge to maximise carbon reduction within its business, Europcar Mobility Group UK has renewed its partnership with leading integrated salvage and green parts provider, SYNETIQ. The new three-year contract will see parts from damaged vehicles in the Europcar UK fleet passed to SYNETIQ for use in repairs in other Europcar vehicles.

Europcar Mobility Group has publicly stated its commitment to reduce its impact on the environment through its ‘One Sustainable Fleet’ programme, reducing carbon emissions for its car and van fleet and targeting to have ‘green’ vehicles (less than 50 g CO2/km) accounting for 20% of its car and van fleet by the end of 2024.  Its commitment to carbon reduction also encapsulates and drives all key processes in the business, and the use of green parts plays a crucial role in supporting that approach. In the past year alone, SYNETIQ has successfully supplied Europcar with 1,145 green parts producing a carbon saving of over 43,000kg.

As Ron Santiago, Managing Director, Europcar Mobility Group UK explained the partnership with SYNETIQ delivers important advantages for the business and its customers:  “We are constantly seeking ways to reduce our environmental footprint and are very aware that our customers are keen to do the same. We have been working with SYNETIQ for the past five years and the continuation of the relationship, following an extensive tender process, speaks volumes about the significant advances we have already made together to operate a greener fleet, while maintaining vehicle safety and decreasing vehicle downtime”.

As well as supporting sustainable motoring solutions, the initiative will play an important role in optimising Europcar fleet management by reducing vehicle downtime.

Fleet managers are all too aware of the current supply chain disruptions which are expected to remain for much of 2022. Using high quality, safety checked green parts, rather than new parts will not only tick the environmental box for Europcar’s clients, but will help ensure the quickest possible turnaround for repairs in this challenging climate.

Each and every part fed into SYNETIQ’s Green Parts will receive the highest standard of scrutiny before being reused in Europcar’s fleet, using approved repair methods. Vehicle safety and longevity will be further guaranteed via use of the company’s UK appointed BS10125 approved Tier A repair network, de-fleet centres and approved mechanical repair suppliers.

“We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Europcar in the supply of quality green parts for their fleet,” added Tom Rumboll, CEO at SYNETIQ. “Sustainability is at the heart of SYNETIQ, it’s why we exist and why we work with clients so closely to make sure we’re doing everything we can to support them to achieve their own sustainability goals and missions. The fact that, in the past year alone, we have supplied Europcar with more than 1,145 green parts, producing a carbon saving of over 43,000kg is simply amazing. What’s more, their vehicles have played a massive role in the decarbonisation of the supply chain as a whole. From the Europcar vehicles that come through our doors, we’ve sold a total of 1,356 green parts on their behalf which equates to over 63,000kg carbon savings.”

“Green parts provide a more sustainable motoring solution not only in helping to reduce carbon emissions but also by presenting additional operational advantages such as reducing vehicle downtime and associated costs, as well as helping businesses mitigate against the current supply challenges. We’re excited to see further carbon savings as we continue together on our joint sustainability journey.”
