Our Head Office in Doncaster is looking for a Wheels & Tyres Operative to join LKQ SYNETIQ at our site on Bentley Moor Lane, Adwick-le-Street.
The Opportunity:
The main purpose of the role is to supply, fit and remove new and used tyres, repair tyres and tubes, fit valves, reseal and balance wheels taking care that no damage is caused to customer vehicles.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Ensure to use the correct jacking points and equipment, fit and remove new and used tyres, repair tyres and tubes, fit valves, reseal, and balance wheels
- Load and unload used tyres and wheels, transporting to other areas of the depot as required
- Process used tyres, including checking tyre tread and side wall condition, determining suitability for stock/scrap, marking up and storing
- Strip wheels and process rims including balancing, marking up, storing or scrapping in accordance with agreed standards
- Liaise with customers, respond to enquiries, check and advise on price and availability, including checking vehicle stock in Yard and contacting external suppliers if required
- Take payment for goods and services provided and process stock records as required
- Undertake a daily schedule of maintenance for machinery and equipment and general maintenance of tyres, racks and floors to keep clean and tidy
- Set up balancing machine for different size tyres
- Ensure that all works are undertaken in accordance with health and safety standards, that all tools, equipment and ramps used (including de-pollution rig if required) are properly maintained in accordance with best practice, any waste spills dealt with, and that the workplace is kept in a clean, safe and tidy condition at all times
- Any other duties as may be required which are commensurate with the grade of the post
Here’s what you bring:
- Experience of working in a similar environment
- Wheel balancing, reseals, tyre and tube repairs, fitting valves and determining tyre condition
- Knowledge of carjacking points and how to remove and refit tyres and wheels
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Work well on your own or as part of a busy team
- You will need to be able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and multi task methodically
- Must be able to lift and handle heavy weights in a safe manner
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weathers
