The Role:

As a Vehicle Depolluter, your primary responsibility will be to safely remove hazardous materials from end-of-life vehicles. You will be ensuring the vehicles are depolluted of all fuels, oils, antifreeze, and tyres, helping to reduce the environmental impact of waste materials and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Maintain and service ramps (e.g. greasing, minor repairs, and replacement of filters) including checks on safety and correct operation
  • Arrange for the efficient delivery of vehicles for de-pollution at such rates to ensure a continuing workload and full utilisation of equipment
  • Ensure the procedure for depollution as shown at the rigs is followed correctly
  • Check and confirm vehicle details against database and update working record sheets or other records in accordance with agreed standards and procedures
  • Ensure that all works are undertaken in accordance with health and safety standards, that all tools, equipment and ramps used (including de-pollution rig if required) are properly maintained in accordance with best practice, any waste spills dealt with, and that the workplace is kept in a clean, safe and tidy condition at all times
  • Remove batteries and wheels, checking, marking up and storing as per agreed procedures
  • Using specialised equipment, check pressures and drain air conditioning units. This would only be undertaken with specialist training
  • Drill holes in tanks and, using a variety of pipes on the depollution rig, drain, check quality and store correctly all fluids, oils and fuel (e.g. flammable, explosive, corrosive). Plug tank and replace sump plugs
  • Use forklift to move vehicles/parts as requested
  • Ensure that all paperwork and electronic records are completed accurately and on time
  • Housekeeping and Yard Operative duties

  • Knowledge of checking oils and other hazardous chemical
  • Experience of using a range of hand tools
  • Ability to work in a competent and efficient manner
  • Work well on your own or as part of a busy team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Work in a fast paced environment and multi task methodically and safely
  • Health and Safety awareness
