With this in mind, we are currently recruiting for an IT Support Engineer to be based at our site in Winsford with travel to Doncaster if required. Typical working hours are 8.30am until 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

The Role

The main purpose of the role is to provide 1st line (helpdesk) technical support to internal and external customers, assisting them with hardware and software problems via phone, email or face to face.

Key Responsibilities 

  • To provide technical support answering support queries either face to face or via phone or email
  • To maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles
  • To take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues
  • Work closely with developers and infrastructure teams to solve problems in a timely fashion.
  • Respond to enquiries from clients and help them resolve any hardware or software problems
  • Support users in the use of computer equipment by providing necessary training and advice
  • To allocate more complex service issues to the relevant IT Support members
  • Configuring, PC’s Printers, PDA’s
  • Creating User accounts
  • Checking backup logs
  • Documenting changes to user permissions.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant 1st line / Helpdesk support is desirable but not essential
  • Troubleshooting Microsoft Office
  • Excellent telephone manner and face to face communication skills
  • Microsoft based operating systems with emphasis on Windows desktop technologies
  • Basic understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration
  • Server and Active Directory
  • Ability to work in a competent and efficient manner
  • Work well on your own or as part of a busy team
